God's Providence
God is a God who upholds and governs His entire creation; One who performs that which He has decreed.
Imagine a person spending thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours on various plans for constructing a large sailboat, but never actually building it; or, after completing the construction of a beautiful, complex, detailed boat, never caring for, or using, it for any purpose.
Would you not find such actions very senseless and foolish? God is not like such a person. God performs His plan. He maintains and governs His creation for a purpose.
God's continual work in the caring for, and governing of, His creation according to His plan and purpose is called God's divine providence. The Heidelberg Catechism beautifully answers the
