Thou shall not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and founh generation of them that I hate Me;
And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love Me, and keep My commandments.
-Exodus 20:4-6
The Reformed churches, therefore, oppose the Roman Catholic Eucharist teaching and observance and uphold the following scriptural doctrines concerning the Lord's Supper:
Christ's real presence at the sacrament -spiritually, not physically
The elements serving as visible signs and remembrances of
Jesus' death -His crucified body and shed blood
The sealing and strengthening power of the sacrament -by
personal application of the Holy Spirit to the believer's soul
as received by God-given faith

For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
